Hotline Miami is a top-down arcade-style action video game developed by Jonatan Söderström and Dennis Wedin, and published by Devolver Digital. The game was released in 2012 for Microsoft Windows, OSX, Linux, and PlayStation Vita.
Hotline Miami is set in the late 1980s and follows an unnamed protagonist who receives cryptic messages on his answering machine, instructing him to go to various addresses and eliminate everyone in his path. The game’s signature gameplay style features fast-paced, high-intensity combat with a heavy emphasis on melee combat, stealth, and puzzle-solving.
Hotline Miami has been praised for its surreal visual and sound design, as well as its challenging and rewarding gameplay. The game has won numerous awards and has since spawned a sequel, Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number, as well as a spinoff game, Hotline Miami: Pocket Edition.
